Avatar (Creating the World of Pandora)

Avatar (2009) Poster AVATAR takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on an epic adventure, ultimately fighting to save the alien world he has learned to call home. James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of “Titanic,” first conceived the film 15 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not exist yet. Now, after four years of production, AVATAR, a live action film with a new generation of special effects, delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

We enter the alien world through the eyes of Jake Sully, a former Marine confined to a wheelchair. But despite his broken body, Jake is still a warrior at heart. He is recruited to travel light years to the human outpost on Pandora, where corporations are mining a rare mineral that is the key to solving Earth’s energy crisis. Because the atmosphere of Pandora is toxic, they have created the Avatar Program, in which human “drivers” have their consciousness linked to an avatar, a remotely-controlled biological body that can survive in the lethal air. These avatars are genetically engineered hybrids of human DNA mixed with DNA from the natives of Pandora… the Na’vi.

Reborn in his avatar form, Jake can walk again. He is given a mission to infiltrate the Na’vi, who have become a major obstacle to mining the precious ore. But a beautiful Na’vi female, Neytiri, saves Jake’s life, and this changes everything. Jake is taken in by her clan, and learns to become one of them, which involves many tests and adventures. As Jake’s relationship with his reluctant teacher Neytiri deepens, he learns to respect the Na’vi way and finally takes his place among them. Soon he will face the ultimate test as he leads them in an epic battle that will decide nothing less than the fate of an entire world. (Source)

Several people have complained about downloading issues with Yahoo! I’ve split up the video into multiple rar files and uploaded them to several file sharing sites. Hopefully these mirrors will suffice.

  1. Started the download and with the high speed fiber optic internet service I have…it still took me about a good 3 hours to download the whole file. Still, anything Avatar in 1080p is worth it. If anyone hasn’t seen it in IMAX [Not regular 3D] but IMAX 3d, go watch it before it comes outta theaters. Hopefully the Blu-ray release will be as good as the Dark Knight IMAX release or better.

  2. Hi. I have been downloading the 480p video version of “Avatar – Creating Pandora” from Yahoo Trailers this mrng. While I have finished dwndng 94% of the video, I unfortunately lost my internet connection. Later when I tried to resume the dwld, I am being asked to enter username and password, which I can’t figure out what for. I am downloading the file with IDM – Manager. Can anyone provide required info please. Thanks in advance.

  3. @Narendra: Unfortunately you can’t use IDMs with Yahoo as noted in our tutorial.

However Yahoo! does support resuming. I just tested with wget -c (resume getting a partially-downloaded file.) and resuming worked fine.

  4. @Krunk – Buddy, I think I have cracked the impossible. All u have to do is refresh the file address in IDM and boom . . . u can now resume the file. I have just finished downloading the complete file. It happens with mediafire. Thought it’ll work and it did.

  5. Conceiva DownloadStudio gave me full speed when downloading the 720p version from Yahoo.

I recommend others giving it a try, Yahoo for me as I’ve said before is slow but it seems it’s accelerated with this manager, it was so slow it usually takes me 25 minutes to download a 1080p file using GetRight (180MB), with this 1.11GB 720p encode I did it in around 40 minutes.

  6. 360p Standard Definition MP4 Encode (185MB) added for anyone who wants to watch it but doesn’t want to use as much bandwidth. I would recommend downloading this featurette at least in 480p for those who can.

Sample PNG here: http://i48.tinypic.com/au6xrl.png as you can see it’s softened because of the resolution and bitrate.

  7. @ Narendra Varma

thanx for the tip man. i too had the problem while downloading the 720p file. i was halfway through when it suddenly stopped and when i restarted the download it was asking for user/password. I tried ur way and it resumed perfectly.

  8. HI, I’ve been trying to download the 720p version, but it’s pretty slow when dwnldng 4rm Yahoo!!! it goes at around 10-15 kb/s. My max. speed is around 55 kb/s, so if anyone has downloaded the 1.11gb 720p version of this feauterette, could u break it up into three or four parts (as in rar) and upload it to megaupload or repidshare or mediafire etc… OR if u could just upload the whole thing as a torrent, I would really appreciate it… Please post the links here, THANK YOU in advance…

  9. @AK: Thanks to the ability to remote upload to file sharing sites, I’ve split the video into multiple rar files and uploaded them to several of them.

Both 480p and 720p are available. 1080p is on the way. See the original post for links.

  10. I like the Avatar 3D movie, particularly the story line, not solely it brings a very new sensation but eye opening thoughts of humanity. I heard the New Avatar 2 is comming soon, can’t wait to see it again…!
