Persepolis (Theatrical Trailer)

Persepolis The coming-of-age story of a precocious and outspoken young Iranian girl that begins during the Islamic Revolution. We meet nine-year-old Marjane when the fundamentalists first take power–forcing the veil on women and imprisoning thousands. The story then follows her as she cleverly outsmarts the “social guardians” and discovers punk, ABBA and Iron Maiden, while living with the terror of government persecution and the Iran/Iraq war. Then Marjane’s journey moves on to Austria where, as a teenager, her parents send her to school in fear for her safety and, she has to combat being equated with the religious fundamentalism and extremism she fled her country to escape. Marjane eventually gains acceptance in Europe, but finds herself alone and horribly homesick, and returns to Iran to be with her family, though it means putting on the veil and living in a tyrannical society. After a difficult period of adjustment, she enters art school and marries, continuing to speak out against the hypocrisy she witnesses. At age twenty-four, she realizes that while she is deeply Iranian, she cannot live in Iran. She then makes the heartbreaking decision to leave her homeland for France, optimistic about her future, shaped indelibly by her past. (Source)

Redacted A fictional story inspired by true events, REDACTED is a unique cinematic experience that will force viewers to radically reconsider the filters through which we see and accept events in our world, the power of the mediated image and how presentation and composition influence our ideas and beliefs. A profound meditation on the way information is packaged, distributed and received in an era with infinite channels of communication, REDACTED utilizes a variety of created source material-video diaries, produced documentary, surveillance footage, online testimonials, news pieces-to comment on the extreme disconnect between the surface of an image and the reality of ideas and the truth, especially in times of strife. Steep (Theatrical Trailer)

Steep The story of big mountain skiing, a sport that barely existed 35 years ago. It started in the 1970s in the mountains above Chamonix, France, where skiers began to attempt ski descents so extreme that they appeared almost suicidal. Men like Anselme Baud and Patrick Vallencant were inspired by the challenge of skiing where no one thought to ski before. Now, two generations later, some of the worldâ??s greatest skiers pursue a sport where the prize is not winning, but simply experiencing the exhilaration of skiing and exploring big, wild, remote mountains. The man who is often described as the greatest big mountain skier of all, the late Doug Coombs who died in a skiing accident in La Grave, France, in April, 2006, is at the center of the story. His rich life and tragic death reveal the essential question at the heart of big mountain skiing: How does a skier weigh the risks versus the rewards of a sport where the possibility of dying is ever present? Also featured are many of the sportâ??s greatest athletes including Bill Briggs, Stefano De Benedetti, Eric Pehota, Glen Plake, Shane McConkey, Seth Morrison, Chris Davenport, Ingrid Backstrom and Andrew McLean. Revamping of Urls

I’ve been playing with PHP and JavaScript to see if I can get the trailer frame to automatically pop up and ended with something like this: Trailer Popup.

At first I wanted to automatically detect if the parent frame was the HD Trailers index page, and if it wasn’t, to load the index page first, then display the trailer frame. There were some difficulties in doing this as most of my processing is done on server side and there really isn’t a way for PHP to know how the frames are structured on the client side. I could do it with client side code (JavaScript), but then I realized it’ll cause problems with the search engines when they’re indexing my pages. I had a working prototype of this and played with it for awhile.

I then tried passing in another get parameter to my index pages, but that didn’t work out too well due to the fact the index pages are cached and that I had wanted to avoid loading the big trailer list every time.

Finally, I created a whole new page for it: view.php and it worked out pretty well. I then realized that all my Digg URLs would have to change, causing a big reset to ‘0’.

I contemplated for a bit, and reverted the work. Looks like I’ll have to give this some more thought.
