This movie is based on another Japanese horror film titled 着信アリ (Chakushin Ari). It has a very similar feeling to the The Ring in my opinion.
I noticed in the end, it’s release date is 1.4.08 and that reminded me of another recent horror film: 1408. Not sure if the connection was intended.
