About the controversial French lawyer: Jacques Verges. He began his career with the Algerian War for Independence and the defense of Djamila Bouhired, an activist who embodied the people’s determination to gain freedom. Verges ends up adopting the anticolonialist cause and then disappears for eight years. When he returns, Verges defends unpopular figures from all political fronts and monsters like Nazi criminal Klaus Barbie and Holocaust denier Roger Garaudy. (Source)

This documentary looks very interesting and powerful and I’m actually looking forward to seeing this.
I thought he was Asian when I first saw him, but when he started spewing out French, I was like hmmmm… I looked him up on Wikipedia and it turns out his father was French, but mother was Vietnamese and he was born in Thailand.
This movie is about a lawyer who defends war criminals and leaders of terrorist organizations. He usually stands by himself, fighting against hoards of lawyers. His belief is that the justice is blind and he doesn’t like it when people get taken advantage of, neither friend nor enemy.
